A day's gone by...

Mom,

Wow, made it through a whole day without you. It wasn't easy in the least, everything reminds us of you, and I mean everything. While this is very comforting, feels like my stomach turns each time I remember you're gone. I just can't put a grasp on the fact that you're really not coming back, that you're not going to be here tomorrow, or you're just away for a little while. It's so hard to understand, and I hope that that will come one day.

Since you've been gone, we managed to clean out your office, take care of your gravesite, make viewing and funeral arrangements, and put a LARGE amound of pictures together for you. Can't describe the feeling of having to pick out where your mothers going to be buried, let alone the coffin and what you will be dressed in. We're just used to you helping us make decisions. Which is probably why everytime we were trying to decide on something we kept saying, "this is what Mom would want." We think you'll be pretty happy with our decisions. You'd be really happy with Dad today...when asked by the Holy Savior cemetary director if you wanted the plots beside Grandma and Grandpa Wisman, he (jokingly) told him that they've been living down the street from us for a long time, you don't need them moving any closer. While he was joking, that would probably be something you would say! We are planning on having your services through Emig funeral home, owned by the Cupps that go to church with us. They were such an incredible help to us, and so heartfelt with their sympathy. They were so upset to hear of your passing, and offered us their every condolence. We plan to have the viewing and funeral at St. Rose, where we've been going to church and Sunday School our whole lives.

Went out to eat tonight, as we used to every Friday night as a family, at Ruby Tuesdays with a bunch of the family. Had my first drink out to dinner with the family too since I've been 21, knew you were there for it :) . Afterward we came back to the house with everyone and went through about a million pictures looking for some of you to display at your services. We found a ton of them, and it brought back so many memories, reminiscing of the old days. You were such a wonderful mother to us, always knew how to have the best of times.

Well today wasn't any easier for us, but everyone has been so kind and supporting. There are so many people offering their prayers and condolescences, you have impacted so many lives. We got rid of all of your walking aides, wheelchair, bath chairs, etc. as soon as we could, as we don't want these of reminders of your sick days. It's been hard getting the image out of our heads of when you were hurting and confused, but I think that will go away in time. Looking at all the pictures tonight really helped us with that, remembering the days before cancer was a more foreign word. I don't see this getting any easier anytime soon, but I am finding more and more comfort in knowing you're safe with the Lord, and that you aren't hurting anymore.

I miss you so much Mom and know you are sitting here with me. Love you.
