Frustration

Hi Mom :)

Sorry we didn't write yesterday...was a pretty frustrating day for all of us. Not too eventful at all. You were pretty awake in the morning time, knew everyone and more of what was going on. Dr. Jaffe (oncologist) came in the morning and kinda gave us her opinion of what to do next. Instead of doing the spinal tap on you, they decided to do a third MRI to get a clearer image of what they predict to be tumors around your spinal column. Dr. Jaffe wanted to be sure there were no tumors starting elsewhere in your spinal cord that would affect your upper extremity movement like your lack of movement in your lower body. If so, she wanted to take care of getting you treatment right away for those if that was the case, to prevent any loss of motion elsewhere.

However, even though she wanted to get an MRI right away, we were told it would not be until later that night. Well the night flew by, and despite our attempts to get information or any knowledge of your state or time of MRI, we were told it would not be until the next morning (today) at 11. We've also been aggravated with the issue of there being about 15 different doctors that have visited us since you were admitted last Wednesday evening, between the oncologists, family practice, and neurologists. Everyone has a different opinion, and they don't seem to communicate very well. In fact, one doctor tells you one thing and next thing you know another comes in to tell you another. Talk about frustrating! After a confrontation with Dr. Carpenter (family practice) and the attempts from the nurses to get things straightened out, we finally got your primary care switched over to the oncologists from family practice. We think (and hope) that this will be more beneficial and things will run more smoothly.

Now we are just waiting on the results of your MRI, which hopefully will not take as long to get back as the last two that were done at the hospital, so we can get a more concrete idea of what is going on. Last night you had a LOT of visitors, full house once again! Think the nurses were starting to get a little aggravated by all of us. Oh well! After that, Megan and Dad decided to stay the night so we could get this whole mess figured out. You were up the entire night, extremely restless. It 's okay though, you definitely made it interesting. Making up for that a little bit now, seems as if you are trying to sleep a bit. And we think your MRI this morning will be able to be read for once. Kathy Walker has been here with you for quite some time while Dad and Megan ran home to get showers, and you knew who she was right away! You're so lucky to have such wonderful friends.

Well we will update you more when we find out some new information, which seems not to come very often lately. Sleep well, we're here with you, praying for a miracle.

Stay strong Mom. Love you.
